Project Overview
About
This Project
KFM Geotech supported a 14-storey building over four levels of basement in Burwood. The engagement covered geotechnical site investigation, groundwater monitoring, hydrogeological assessment, a dewatering management plan, shoring design, and a Specialist Engineering Assessment prepared for Sydney Water.

Scope of Works
Investigation & Groundwater
01
Geotechnical Site Investigation
Borehole drilling with continuous rock coring to define the soil and rock profile and the founding conditions for the tower and basement.
02
Groundwater Monitoring
Installation and monitoring of groundwater standpipes to establish standing water levels across the site.
03
Hydrogeological Assessment
Assessment of groundwater behaviour and the drawdown expected from a four-level basement excavation.
04
Dewatering Management Plan
Preparation of the dewatering management plan and water take assessment for the excavation.
Design & Approvals
Shoring & Sydney Water
PLAXIS finite element analysis of the shoring wall at 42-60 Railway Parade and Wynne Avenue, Burwood NSW
Rock core from borehole BH1, Burwood NSW, cored 4.4–20.07 m
01
Shoring Design
Design of the retention system supporting a four-level basement excavation on a constrained urban site.
02
Specialist Engineering Assessment
Finite element analysis and geotechnical appraisal prepared to support the Specialist Engineering Assessment required by Sydney Water for works near its assets.
Results
Project Outcomes
Investigation, groundwater assessment and shoring design were delivered as one package, with the movement predictions supporting the Sydney Water assessment drawn from the same ground model used for the design.
Standards & Compliance
All deliverables are produced in accordance with applicable standards
