Shoring & Basement Design
📍 Burwood, NSW
14-Storey Building over 4 Basement Levels — Burwood, NSW
Challenge
A 14-storey building over four basement levels required a shoring system designed alongside a Sydney Water asset, with groundwater drawdown and predicted wall movement both governing what the design could allow.
Solution
KFM Geotech carried out the geotechnical site investigation with rock coring to 20 m, groundwater monitoring and hydrogeological assessment, prepared the dewatering management plan, designed the shoring system, and completed finite element analysis in PLAXIS 2D to support a Specialist Engineering Assessment for Sydney Water.
Outcome
Investigation, shoring design and supporting analysis were delivered as a single package, with predicted wall and ground movements quantified for the Sydney Water assessment rather than left to conservative assumption.
