About
This Project
KFM Geotech supported an apartment development in Epping from initial investigation through to construction. The engagement covered geotechnical site investigation, hydrogeological assessment, dewatering management and monitoring, vibration monitoring, piling inspection, footing assessment, shoring design, and a geotechnical appraisal prepared for a Specialist Engineering Assessment.

Investigation & Design

Geotechnical Site Investigation
Borehole drilling, in-situ testing and laboratory testing to define the soil and rock profile across the site.

Hydrogeological Assessment
Assessment of groundwater conditions and the effect of the proposed basement excavation on the local water table.

Dewatering Management Plan
Preparation of the dewatering management plan, with groundwater monitoring maintained through the excavation.

Shoring Design
Design of the temporary shoring system retaining the basement excavation.

Monitoring of ground vibration through piling and excavation adjacent to neighbouring properties.

Geotechnical Appraisal for SEA
Geotechnical appraisal prepared to support the Specialist Engineering Assessment required by Sydney Water.
Results
Project Outcomes
Investigation, groundwater assessment, shoring design and construction-phase inspection were delivered by one team, so the ground model established at investigation stage carried through to what was verified in the excavation.
